MidWinter 2017

Last year, we celebrated an important milestone: Small Business Network’ 30th anniversary. A special edition of Agent Life showcased a timeline and review of the progress and innovations made over the years, under SBN’s various leaders.

Many of the ideas for innovations and improvements came from the SBN Chapter Directors. SBN’s strength lies in the foundation of our solid Chapter system and the passion members have for our association. The culmination of our 30th year celebration shined through at our November conference, held on land and sea.

Among highlights of the 2016 November SBN conference was our gala award celebration, recognizing members, chapters and suppliers. A big “thank you” for the celebration Visit Anchorage and Holland America held for us at the gala reception and dinner, including fresh fish flown in from Alaska, a live performance by native Alaskans, and dancing to end the evening. It was an emotional evening, with many deserving members and suppliers recognized. The essence of SBN was captured in the 30th anniversary tribute video, which brought us back to some magical times.

I’d like to recognize and thank Dan Smith, SBN Chapter Director Pacific Northwest, for serving consecutive two-year terms as SBN representative to the ASTA board. Congratulations to Helen Prochilo, SBN Chapter Director Long Island for being elected 2016 – 2017 SBN representative to the ASTA board. It was a pleasure working with Dan in this capacity and rewarding to see his passion for SBN so well-vocalized. We’re now well-represented by Helen, and I am thrilled she has volunteered to support and mentor our Chapters as needed by working through the Regional Directors. Her own Chapter experiences and industry knowledge will serve SBN well.

I look forward to meeting you again soon, at another SBN or ASTA meeting or event!

SBN Annual Conference 2017 takes place in Anchorage, Alaska, September 13 – 16. Visit SBNconference.com to book now, as space at the Hotel Captain Cook is limited. Many stunning pre- and post-FAMs are available.
