Rumor has it you have a “Travel Advisors Rock” tattoo. What inspired this?

The rumor is true. I had the words “Travel Advisors Rock” permanently tattooed on my left shoulder during one of our Agentpalooza stops in New Orleans earlier this year.

 The rumor is true. I had the words “Travel Advisors Rock” permanently tattooed on my left shoulder during one of our Agentpalooza stops in New Orleans earlier this year.

Travel advisors have been part of my life since I was 11 years old. I had a few friends tell me I’d regret getting the tattoo. I explained to them that everything I have, and so many wonderful memories, are somehow tied to travel advisors. I owe travel advisors a lot. This was a tiny gesture of my appreciation for the impact they’ve had on my life and the cruise industry as a whole—and it was a fun way to do it.

What is the Agentpalooza Rockin’ Moments contest?

Over the course of four weeks, we asked advisors to share some of the defining things that make them true rock stars. Each week had a different theme and advisors submitted amazing photos, videos and statements about how they rock their jobs and create vacation memories for their clients. The submissions were really outstanding—so thoughtful and creative.

Why did Carnival Cruise launch the contest—and will it return?

Agentpalooza was such a successful event for us! We got to meet about 1,200 travel advisors in six cities in the South and Southeast. We drove on the bus for 3,000 miles and delivered fun to our hardworking travel advisors who deserve to be treated like rock stars.

We wanted to keep the Travel Advisors Rock theme going and wanted another way to reward our travel advisor partners with great prizes and some fun, too. I’m not sure what next year brings in terms of travel advisor contests, but I can assure you that Travel Advisors Rock and Agentpalooza will live on.

How did you select the 10 best rock star advisor posts?

It was a hard job! We judged on creativity, originality and level of fun. We had some really memorable entries. I thank my wonderful co-judges, who provided their expertise in helping us choose a great field of winners:

What are the benefits of participating in the Rockin’ Moments contest?

The contest was a great way to showcase best practices in a fun way and to learn from each other. I learned a lot of great tips from all of you, and I hope everyone who participated would say the same.

What are your top three tips to help travel advisors rock at selling Carnival Cruises?

I’m going to stick with some oldies but goodies: Know your customer. Ask for referrals. Ask for the sale.
